Cable tension meters are used wherever a uniform tension distribution is necessary, safety-relevant minimum tensile stresses must be observed or breaking loads of ropes must not be exceeded.
Cable tension meters can carry out measurements in open and closed static force systems without having to disconnect them. The force is measured directly in the force system; the cable tension meter is clamped onto the cable by means of a clamping mechanism, so that the sensor roller exerts permanent pressure on the cable.
Cables have different characteristics based on their material, diameter and structure. Calibration of the wire rope tension gauges on the cables to be tested is therefore necessary for an accurate cable tension measurement. Other parameters, such as the rope length and material, also influence the measurement.
