Ultrasonic Flaw Detectors
Ultrasonic flaw detectors use the pulse-echo principle to find and size subsurface discontinuities, displaying the returned signal as an A-scan that an inspector reads to locate cracks, porosity and lack of fusion — the standard approach in weld and structural inspection. Instruments such as the DFX7 and DFX8 add the calibration, gating and flaw-sizing tools (DAC, TCG, DGS, AWS) needed to evaluate indications against an acceptance procedure.
