Material Thickness
Material thickness measurement uses a contact gauge — a frame, an anvil and a spring-loaded feeler — to check the thickness of sheet, film, foil, paper, leather, rubber and textiles where both faces are accessible. Analogue dial gauges give a quick visual read, digital models add resolution and data output, and precision benchtop instruments deliver laboratory accuracy. Anvil and contact geometry, applied measuring force and resolution decide which gauge fits the material.
