Wall Thickness
Wall thickness measurement determines remaining material from a single accessible surface, making it the standard method for inspecting pipes, tanks, pressure vessels and hulls where the far wall cannot be reached. Most gauges use the ultrasonic pulse-echo principle, timing a sound pulse as it travels through the wall and reflects back, in line with ISO 16809; magnetic gauges offer an alternative for thin non-ferrous walls. Probe choice, surface condition and calibration are the factors that govern a trustworthy reading.
