    MAX-II Ultrasonic Bolt Tension Monitor

    Ultrasonic bolt tension monitor for measuring fastener elongation, load, stress and preload

    The MAX-II ultrasonic bolt tension monitor measures changes in fastener length during tightening, allowing bolt elongation, load, stress and percentage strain to be evaluated. Using ultrasonic transit-time measurements, it supports bolt preload measurement and subsequent checks of bolted joints in industrial assembly and maintenance applications.

    The instrument combines Pulse-Echo, Echo-Echo and Echo-Echo Verify measurement modes with a sunlight-readable QVGA colour display, automatic measurement setup and internal data logging.

    In Pulse-Echo mode, the MAX-II supports fastener lengths from 25.4 to 25,400 mm (1 to approximately 1,000 in), subject to material properties and signal conditions. Multi-echo modes are available for applications requiring additional echo measurements, particularly shorter fasteners or situations where coatings may affect measurement results.

    Auto Correlation helps identify a suitable transducer position for repeat measurements. The instrument also provides configurable measurement gates, adjustable alarm limits and field-calibration functions for load and stress measurement. Recorded measurements can be transferred to a computer via USB for review and reporting.

    The MAX-II operates from a rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack and includes a connector for the optional A-156-8001 temperature sensor. Magnetic and non-magnetic contact transducers, as well as glue-on crystals for suitable applications, are available separately.
