Digital tension meters with large guide rollers for optical fibres and fragile filaments

The DTSF and DTXF are hand-held digital tension meters for running optical fibres, carbon filaments and other fragile technical fibres up to 1.5 mm diameter. Large V-grooved guide rollers (groove diameter 32 mm) and a 140 mm measuring head guide the material gently, with four measuring ranges from 1–200 cN to 20–2000 cN.

Both models use a colour TFT display with numeric, numeric plus bar graph and time-tension graph views. The display orientation can be fixed at 0°, 90°, 180° or 270° or set to rotate automatically. Programmable MIN/MAX alarms and an adjustable 2–60 second MIN/MAX window help operators monitor changing tension directly at the instrument.

The DTSF is the basic version. It provides one factory calibration plus four customer calibrations and stores the statistical results of one measurement series. Its USB connection is used for charging.

The DTXF adds USB data communication, memory for up to 60,000 measured values across 255 measurement series, five recording modes and one factory calibration plus ten customer calibrations. Recording can be triggered at a set tension in modes S, C and F, and Tension Inspect 3 software is supplied on a USB flash drive for PC data transfer and analysis.

DTXF Memory Modes

Mode	Function
S — Standard	Records during a user-defined period and stores the statistical values.
H — Hold	Stores the last 128 values so the tension curve can be reviewed after the measurement.
C — Continuous	Records 2 measured values per second for a user-defined period from 1 second to 1 hour.
F — Fast	Records 1000 measured values per second for a user-defined period from 1 to 60 seconds.
D — On demand	Stores individual readings taken by the operator, with statistical values for one measurement series.

A trigger point can be set in memory modes S, C and F so that recording starts automatically when the tension reaches that value.
