X Series High Performance Durometer

The Durometer Asker Type A is suitable for general rubber with normal hardness as specified according to the standards of JIS K 6253, ASTM D 2240, ISO 7619, DIN 53505, etc.

The Durometer Asker Type C measures soft rubber, sponges, foam elastomers, rolled wires, rolled sheets and textile rolls.

The Durometer Asker Type D is suitable for hard rubber and plastics, as specified according to the standards of JIS K 6253, ASTM D 2240, ISO 7619, DIN 53505, etc.

The Durometer Asker Type F for softer materials with low hardness. The large notch and pressure foot guarantee high accuracy.

The Durometer Asker Type JA determines the hardness of rubber in general (JIS K 6301).

The Durometer Asker Type B is suitable for measuring semi-rigid rubber with normal to high hardness (ASTM D2240).

The Durometer Asker Type C2 is suitable for soft rubber, sponges, foam elastomers, coiled wires. This durometer is suitable for softer materials that are difficult to measure with the Durometer Asker Type C.

The Durometer Asker Type CS helps to reduce the number of erroneous polystyrene foam measurements.

The Durometer Asker Type E is suitable for soft rubber with low hardness (JIS K 6253 & ISO 7619).

X Series High Performance Durometer

The X-Series Asker Hardness testers are portable, easy to use, make non-destructive measurements and can be equipped (optional) with peak indicators. The Asker High Performance series has an accuracy of ±.75 point and is available in Type F for soft materials like sponge rubber and urethane foam.

Operation

As the hardness tester is pressed against the sample, the material resistance force and indenter spring load balance. The depth of the indenter is measured, which provides a measure of the material's hardness. Values are based upon a 100 point scale (accuracy ±.75 point). However, as time elapses the indicator will "creep" back so that a reading taken a few seconds after the tester makes contact with the sample will be less than the peak reading. The optional peak indicator helps to more closely monitor the difference between peak and "creep" in hardness tests.
