The Tramex Moisture Encounter is a Dual-Depth, non-destructive moisture meter for instant moisture measurement and evaluation.The ME5 has a modern design an comes in d a sturdy housing making it compatible for deployment outside. It has a long battery life and simply needs to be held next to the surface to take a non-invasive moisture measurement.

This non-invasive moisture meter detects moisture in wood and building materials such as drywall, plaster, tiles and masonry. It uses a non-destructive electrical signal to measure wood moisture content between 5% and 30% and can also produce a 0 to 100 WME comparative reading.

Furthermore it offers Deep Depth penetration up to 30mm and Shallow Depth penetration up to 10mm depending on the user’s settings.

The ME5 has 5 Ranges of sensitivity making the Moisture Encounter ideal for testing in and through a wide range of materials in the building envelope:

It thus offers several application possibilitues including location of moisture-related issues within buildings, mapping moisture damage in a building, monitoring progressive drying conditions, and comparison of surface and core moisture levels.

The analogue dial with dual scales displays wood moisture content readings and a comparative scale, and an audio signal also provides feedback. The measurement mode is selected via the simple push button interface and the mode is highlighted by an LED. The HOLD mode freezes the dial needle in place and, via a handy Bluetooth connection, the meter can even send readings to be saved on the Tramex App on an iOS or Android mobile device.

How it works

The Moisture Encounter detects and evaluates moisture conditions within various building materials by non-destructively measuring the
electrical impedance.

A low frequency electronic signal is transmitted into the material via the electrodes in the base of the instrument. The strength of this signal varies in proportion to the
amount of moisture in the material under test.
The Moisture Encounter determines the strength of the current and converts this to a moisture content value, displaying it on a large clear analogue dial.
