Dual Element Transducers


The Dual Element Ultrasonic Transducers are compatible with the MX, MMX, ZX, MVX, CMX, and UMX-2 thickness gauges only. The transducers can be applied for the testing of cast iron, plastics (polyproplylene, polyethylene, etc.), fiberglass, steels, glass, titanium and aluminum, depending on the transducer’s ultrasonic frequency. 

The frequency and crystal diameter are stamped and sorted according to color. Each color defines a specific feature with a corresponding function:

  • HR (High Resolution): Improved resolution close to the surface;
  • CT (Coating Thickness): Works in conjunction with CMX series coating feature;
  • HD (High Damped): Increased resolution for through paint/coating measurement;
  • CPZT (Composite): Insulated PZT crystal with high output for increased signal strength/material penetration.


The dual element transducers can be supplied with three different types of connectors: Potted (Integral), Microdot or Lemo 00. The Potted and Microdot versions can be either “Top” or “Side” entry configurations. The Lemo connectors are only available in ½” diameter transducer configuration, due to space requirements. 

The dual element transducers are available in three different size options: 3/16”, ¼” and ½”. However, not all frequencies are available in all three sizes. The frequencies available are 1,0 MHz, 2,25 MHz, 3,5 MHz, 7,5 MHz or 10MHz. Custom sizes are available upon request.

Also, additional High Damped & PZT versions are available in the existing transducer configurations for an additional charge. These items are custom builds only.
